Digg this story, give $10 to charity

Nick DouglasNICK DOUGLAS — Welcome to the first installment of Diggbait, a daily Valleywag series of how-tos, lists, and stunts crafted to get onto the front page of Digg. Some installments will be about Digg and its users. Others include "Top Ten YouTube Stars Who Aren't LonelyGirl," "How to get a job in Web 2.0," and "The Goatse Challenge."

CplogoAnd from now to Christmas, Diggbait is also a charity drive. For each Diggbait entry from now to Christmas (a maximum of 14 entries) that gets onto the Digg front page, I will donate $10 to Child's Play, the charity organized by the creators of the Penny Arcade web comic. Through Child's Play, donors can buy toys for kids in hospitals around the country.

I'm asking you, Valleywag readers, to match my pledge. At $10 per post, this is a maximum pledge of $140. I'm also asking corporations to match at $20 per post or more. If you want to join, sign your name on the Valleywag Child's Play list. (Hit "Edit page" and use the password "child".) At any time — don't wait until Christmas! — click on a hospital on the Child's Play map and buy a toy on a child's wishlist.

See you tomorrow for Diggbait #2: "The Eight People You Meet on Digg."
