More absurd press drivel on Second Life: the virtual world tried to persuade Billboard that the music business is taking to Second Life, in the same way it embraced web hits Myspace and Youtube. The breathless music magazine: "Every year, a new online service seems to creep out of nowhere to capture the public's imagination, causing at once havoc and opportunity for the entertainment industry." Except Second Life has caught the attention, not of the multiplayer gameplaying public, but a few lazy journalists and clueless marketing departments. The last performance on Second Life that we witnessed: a group of frogs, sponsored by media giant NBC, playing holiday pop. Valleywag's imagination was not captured.
