The violent death of Rex Farrance,
senior technical editor at PC World, appears more bizarre with every detail. The tech mag writer's son admitted to the
San Francisco Chronicle that Farrance allowed the growing of marijuana at the family home in Pittsburg, east of San Francisco. Police had said they believed the Farrances were involved in the possession of and, potentially, the distribution of illegal narcotics, after the journalist was shot dead by robbers on Tuesday night, and his wife pistol-whipped. Sterling Farrance, 19, maintained the drugs were medicinal.
