Is the Web a threat to our culture? One can only hope

I'm inclined to say yes, and thank goodness, but perhaps being a blogger makes me biased. Author Andrew Keen is exploring this topic today at UC Berkeley, in the hopes of making us all feel very very guilty indeed about how free porn is ruining America's "cultcha." Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal is honoring this year's women of influence at the Fairmont in San Jose by robbing charging attendees $165 a ticket. The Under the Radar series starts tomorrow, but they have an opening night party tonight at Zibibbo in Palo Alto. (Passes for the party come with registration — if you're not registered, crash it!) SF New Tech is having a meetup at the swanky screening room at Dolby Labs in Potrero Hill. Now you can hear annoying online videos in surround sound. Or, just fall asleep in their plush seats.
