Thanks for giving me a picture to cut and paste over Rihanna's face on this month's Glamour. She seems like a much better candidate for a "Woman of the Year" to me. #kimberlydenisemunley
You feel weird because it's really easy to be skeptical and cynical about the spin put on the word hero, especially over the last decade or so and especially easy for a person who works in the media. But I have no qualms in this case. This woman is pretty much the definition of brave and God, I hope my daughters - and sons - grow up to be even half that brave. #kimberlydenisemunley
@lionboy: According to the Wilmington Star-News link I posted below, the photo (from her Twitter) is actually a country singer named Dierks Bentley and her husband is stationed at Ft. Bragg. #kimberlydenisemunley
Dear Universe, please don't let the Republicans get a hold of her, if they haven't already, or the Democrats, or the fake Progressives. #kimberlydenisemunley
@Swifter: Perhaps that's what you'd like to believe, but given the number of Iraq War Veterans who've run for office as Democrats, it's kind of a silly thing to assume.
Thank you for writing and posting this; Jezebel has not uttered a single word about this brave woman. I'm assuming it's because she's not a model, actress or "actress" (see Megan Fox/Kristen Stewart/Sienna Miller).
Here's hoping for her speedy recovery, and for the recovery of all the victims Hasan took down before she stepped into his line of fire. #kimberlydenisemunley
@Cam/ron: So far, Gawker has had a couple of stories about Officer Munley; Jezebel, none. I read Gawker much more frequently now than I do Jezebel, although I used to be pretty loyal , and this only reinforces my choice. #kimberlydenisemunley
@gerbilsoutofexile...is cheap and easy: It is pretty outrageous that Jezebel hasn't been covering this. Do they have a problem with the woman because she hunts or something? Because she's in a military family? Because she used guns and was violent? I don't get it. This woman is obviously not their typical commentator who whines about how meat is murder, we're in Afghanistan "for oil", and how awesome cats are, but still. She's a remarkable American woman, and certainly deserves some coverage for her bravery on a blog that claims to cover women's issues. #kimberlydenisemunley
Besides the fact that I enjoy her stuff, and that Hortense is crazy-talented, if she hasn't written about something, there's a reason. Sometimes I won't take stuff so John or Hamilton (who're better suited to write items that aren't breaking) can come in and take them. Sometimes it's because we can only handle so much during the day. I only put up 8-11 posts a day, Hortense is rocking, what, 19 today? That's absurd. Even to set up an open caption, it takes time, it's an endurance sport.
Most people don't realize: the two of us have jobs during the week, and this isn't exactly an operation that's making us rich. We have the weekends because we love them, because it's a different ballgame, because it's a good deal of fun. Shit on me all you want, but don't come in here and knock her, or any of the other weekend writers. You have no idea what this gig entails. Seriously. #kimberlydenisemunley
@gerbilsoutofexile...is cheap and easy: You assume wrong. We've taken quite a few crossposts from Gawker about Munley and entire Ft. Hood tragedy, namely because crossposting to one another often makes more sense than two sites doing the same and/or similar posts, especially when the underlying sentiment is the same and the site that got to it "first" did such a bang-up job that we don't feel we can compete with/add to it. W/r/t Gawker and Jezebel, the eagle-eyed reader will notice that this goes both ways, especially with breaking news stories, and once a site "owns" the story, in this case Gawker, we will continue to let them crosspost until and/or if we have a new, fresher take on the situation. Cam/ron: I have no idea what victims of gender inequality have to do with any of this. Adah: Comparing recaps of a television drama made available to the press via advance screeners to a breaking news story, the details of which are still being fleshed out - and therefore, processed and ruminated on by members of the press/public at large (including bloggers!) - is sort of absurd, don't you think?
Just to make her profile a little more complete, here's a link to the profile in her hometown paper.
There's not a lot of new information there, mostly a bit more background and it'd probably open the door for a joke about gung-ho beach patrols, but she did good and should be applauded. #kimberlydenisemunley
Yes, she's a hero; she ran towards a guy with a gun who was shooting at her and at other people.
And you just know her first public words are gonna be "I wish I had gotten there sooner." #kimberlydenisemunley

Sounds like we may need room for at least two heroes here. Thank you to all.
