Forbes estimates his net worth at $1.5 billion — a far cry from the $5 billion we pegged him at last year — but still a nice chunk of change. (We've since learned the actual number is $4 billion; he owns 27 percent of Facebook.)

The mag notes that "some analysts — and even a few Facebook investors — suggest the company's value is far lower." Even with that proviso, Zuck still ranks as the youngest billionaire in the world and "possibly the youngest self-made billionaire ever." Damn. I can't wait for the call from my mother — "Mark Zuckerberg is worth a billion dollars. What are you doing with your life?" Thanks a lot, Mark. You're making us all look bad.

<![CDATA[San Francisco needs more billionaires]]>

It's like a party with an open candy store: Forbes published its whopping 793-member billionaire list, with all the maps, photos, and self-congratulatory interviews such an event requires. Above is a map of billionaires in the U.S. (the world is viewable here but why do you care about anything outside the Valley), which shows San Francisco as third behind New York and L.A. That's no good.

fbil-cal.jpgSure, if we stacked Silicon Valley on top of San Francisco, we'd have everyone beat. But that would cheapen the glory, so the only solution is herding the rich to San Fran — and making some more.

Entrepreneurs of San Francisco, it is your right — nay, your duty — to bloat your net worths to billions in stock options. San Francisco must be victorious!

'Cause we can't count on Larry, Sergey, and Eric to keep their Google billions past the next screw-up.

<![CDATA[Mo' money, mo' problems, says Bill Gates]]> bill-gates-side.png"My tax return in the United States has to be kept on a special computer because their normal computers can't deal with the numbers," said Bill Gates in Lisbon.

The AFP News Agency kept referring to Gates as "the richest man in the world," as if to say, is this man really complaining on TV about being richer than God? Has it been too long since someone handed him an award? What is Gates fishing for? Why can't more billionaires be as humble as Larry Ellison?
