Valleywag reported in January that the May-December couple — he's 64, she's 28 — had switched the location of their wedding from Hinze's paparazzi-friendly Sydney to the more remote Necker Island. Now PEHub, a venture-capital blog, confirms that the couple are wedding on Necker.

The notion that Necker will keep the ceremony private seems curiously outdated, though, in this age of oversharing. After all, when Larry Page, the Google founder, married Stanford Ph.D. and ex-model Lucy Southworth in late 2007, one of the wedding guests sent Valleywag a close-up pic of the couple's first kiss (left).

Better yet: Since YouTube cofounder Chad Hurley is Clark's son-in-law, we'd hope guests would be sporting videocameras, the better to leak clips with.

Another famous guest, according to the Daily Telegraph: Film mogul Harvey Weinstein. Hinze hosts the Australian version of Project Runway. She spent the past few days at Walt Disney World celebrating with her sister and other family members.

Last month, the Clark, who turns 65 this year, and Hinze held a secret party in a posh Sydney suburb to celebrate the engagement. Australian newspapers reported that the couple would marry in Sydney in March.

But a source on the British Virgin Islands tells us that there are preparations underway for the wedding of a "Netscape big." Netscape cofounder Marc Andreessen is already married, as is former CEO Jim Barksdale, so the ceremony is almost certainly for Clark. Could the Sydney location be a ruse to throw off the tabloids?

Necker, Branson's private estate in the British Virgin Islands, is a good location to avoid paparazzi. A local said the currents make it hard for their boats to approach. But we suspect it won't matter. A guest at the wedding of Google's Page sent Valleywag a snap of him kissing his bride, Lucy Southworth. YouTube founder Chad Hurley, who married Clark's daughter Kathy, will surely be on the invite list. Maybe he'll post a clip! Oh, and if anyone has an invite to the Clark-Hinze bash, care to send us a scan?

Iglesias — whose private-performance fee is estimated at $1 million — was only the start of the bills for the wedding, held last weekend at the Marquis Cabo San Lucas hotel.

Kordestani's ex, Bita Daryabari, and her groom, vascular surgeon Reza Malek (pictured above, at a charity event in San Francisco), stayed in a $4,000/night presidential suite. Colin Cowie, the celebrity wedding planner who's seen Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Jennifer Lopez, and others to the altar, organized the nuptials. Some of the guests took chartered planes Daryabari and Malek paid for. A tequila party on the beach ended with fireworks; the last fusillade took the form of a heart. A chef was flown in from New York to cater the affair. Paparazzi, in town to lens Jennifer Aniston, stumbled across the event — which, in a way, only added to its gaudy glamour.

It is hard to imagine a worse time to throw an extravagant wedding. But Daryabari surely had other things on her mind.

What turned Daryabari, a telecom executive turned philanthropist, into a towering Bridezilla? Her husband, Kordestani, was Google's 12th employee and its first salesman. He struck a search-licensing deal with the now-forgotten Netscape, then an Internet powerhouse where he previously worked, that made Google viable. Google's IPO made Kordestani wealthy, and as Google's shares soared, his fortune grew into the billions of dollars.

But then Kordestani fell in love with a coworker, Gisel Hiscock (right, and yes, that's really her name, poor dear). A rumored reconciliation after the revelation of his affair never happened. The couple moved to London last summer. Somewhere along the line, Daryabari and Kordestani finalized their divorce.

Which, naturally, gave her a big chunk of Kordestani's Google fortune. And what better way to rub her ex-husband's face in her happiness than by spending his money, a million dollars at a time, on the most extravagant event imaginable? If it weren't a supremely arrogant Googler, the self-crowned king of the new advertising world, getting his comeuppance, we might say her wedding was in poor taste. But is there a sweeter taste than revenge?

Despite the marriage, Swisher's disclosure statement still claims that Smith's wealth in Google shares is not Swishers' as well:

A substantial amount of her income from Google is in shares and options, some of which she has sold and some of which she still holds. Megan makes all her own decisions related to these shares and options, and I do not own or control any of them.

Swisher explains to me that Smith's Google shares are going solely to their kids through living trusts, an arrangement which predates their marriage.

But really, does it matter? I've always felt that Swisher's claim that she doesn't own or control Megan's shares was a bit of a fudge on the real situation; Swisher and Smith share a house and raise children together, and their lives and fortunes are thereby entwined. And their relationship, whatever its legal status, will continue to raise eyebrows as long as Swisher covers the industry. Marriage won't change that. Nor, as much as Google executives, Smith included, might wish otherwise, will it soften Swisher's savage coverage of the company.

According to Woz, the pair may or may not have married under California's century-old confidential civil arrangement, under which no witnesses are necessary and the marriage record is kept private. Only the bride, groom or a court order can pry it loose, so no fear of pesky gossips going to the county clerk's office and pulling a public record. It's fairly popular amongst the Hollywood celebrity set who don't want their nuptials to go out over the wire. Of course, to get said confidential marriage, the parties have to be living together. So either way, Janet and Woz, mazel tov!

Yes, Jennifer is one of those Siebels — her dad, Ken Siebel, is a cousin of Tom Siebel, the founder of Siebel Systems. The father of the bride is also chairman of Private Wealth Partners, which manages a $444 million fund. But Newsom might find it difficult to pry any campaign contributions from his new father-in-law, since the elder Siebel has donated only to Republicans in national elections since 2000, including George W. Bush, John McCain and Rudy Giuliani.

Newsom did at least convince the bride's family to host the wedding in Stevensville, Montana, where the groom wore a casual linen suit and the bride wore Vera Wang and rode down the aisle bareback on a white black stallion. By far the best blow-by-blow of the nuptials was from Newsom's predecessor at City Hall, Willie Brown. Siebel and Newsom plan to tour Africa on their honeymoon — no word if they intend to indulge in the hot celebrity trend of adopting a child as a souvenir.

Being in the family way might help burnish Newsom's image after an adultery scandal in 2007 and a public admission of the entrepreneurial wine salesman's drinking problem. The timing of this marriage eerily reflects that of Newsom's first in 2001, when the then-Supervisor wed Kimberly Guilfoyle months before he announced his candidacy for mayor of San Francisco.

But the couple divorced a year after he was elected amidst talk of a new "Camelot" couple rising in the Democratic Party ranks. You can expect the eternal flame of the media's love for Newsom to be rekindled along those lines, though I doubt the newlyweds will be posing in any oil-money mansions this time around.

With Newsom now fielding an exploratory committee to run for statewide office, longtime superfan and San Francisco Chronicle blogger Beth Spotswood was generous: "I give them two years, that's my wedding gift to Gavin." Which is just long enough to last until June 8, 2010, when the votes for Governor will be tallied.

Hopefully Siebel can continue to steer clear of commenting on blogs in the meantime. Siebel's first publicity challenge will be to show up California attorney general Jerry Brown's longtime partner and current wife Anne Gust in the primary, followed by Maria Shriver, wife of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
