The Don't-be-too-evil Empire earns some cuteness points again, by popping off and buying Writely, a beta-edition collaborative online word processor.

Why buy it? It brings Google one step closer to a de facto web OS, sure. But more importantly, it matched everything in the house:

Writely on the left, Gmail on the right. Imitation of Google is the sincerest form of flattery.
