AOL CTO post-mortem: The internal memo explained

Thanks to the internal AOL e-mails leaked on Mercury News's blog, Good Morning Silicon Valley, we now know that CTO Maureen Govern did not quit but "decided to resign," according to CEO/Chairman Jon Miller.

Granted, "decided to resign" here means "got shoved out" (no wonder news outlets misreported at first), but staging this as a resignation leaves Govern more dignity. And, after all, this screw-up was everyone's fault, which is why Miller put Ted Leonsis (the executive formerly known as prince) on a policy-fixing task force.

AOL's former CTO (and now Digital Services head) will step in while the company finds a replacement.
