The treachery of Loic Le Meur

France's entrepreneurs finally have a political champion, in Nicolas Sarkozy, the country's dynamic new president, now with a thumping parliamentary majority at his back. Which makes the latest career move of Loic Le Meur, the Elysee Palace's favorite internet personality, all the more awkward in its timing. Le Meur, who bored American attendees by turning his recent blog conference into a high-tech campaign rally for Sarkozy, is starting a new video content company. A harbinger of France's high-tech revival? Nope. Le Meur's new base will be California. He tells his buddy, Techcrunch's Michael Arrington, that the center of internet innovation is Silicon Valley. Even more gallingly, he wants his kids to grow up speaking English.
