Google has a great virtue. It allows engineers to waste their time on hobby projects, and acquires irrelevant companies on a whim, but the front page has remained remarkably focused on search, and free of encrustation. Yahoo's, by contrast, looks as messily negotiated as a Congressional bill riddled with earmarks. Here's what Google.com would look like if the Mountain View search engine followed the example of its troubled Sunnyvale neighbor, Yahoo.
