Here's a measure of the self-absorption of the geek podcasters. Some of them, including, of course, Robert Scoble, actually believed that a web broadcaster called Technology Evangelist could take over from
Don Imus, the disgraced radio host. The story was, of course, a transparent hoax. Even if the CBS Radio bosses want to cut down on the misguided racial jokes, I don't think they're going to reduce Imus' popular morning show to mind-numbing technology drone. They'd like to preserve at least a few of Imus' 3m weekly listeners. Which, incidentially, was roughly equivalent to the US audience of every single podcast in existence. Scoble: it's really time for you to meet the great American public. Oh, no, please tell me you didn't seriously believe your "download" numbers, and the noise in your echo chamber, did you guys?
