'Yes, your teen is crazy'

Investors in Kleiner Perkins, the legendary Valley venture capital firm which has largely missed out on the second great internet boom, should worry. John Doerr, the lead partner at the firm, has priorities other than investment return, if his hidden personal profile page is any guide. KP has already said it's putting half its energy into clean technology: Doerr credits his 15-year-old daughter with bringing global warming to his attention. That, and Doerr's motto on his KP web page, Family First, would count merely as humanizing anecdote, were it not for a couple of titles in the venture capitalist's recent reading list. Investors in KP will be less sanguine about Doerr taking advice from his daughter knowing the partner has been reading one book, Yes, Your Teen Is Crazy. And they might also wish that the KP boss paid more attention to the advice in another, Setting Limits with your Strong-Willed Child.
