Stanford grads Anand Rajaraman and Venky Harinarayan think they can topple Google with their new topic-based search engine. It could make up for a big mistake: in college, these guys twice decided not to buy Google.
There just may be a personal vendetta too. Silicon Beat reveals that Sergey Brin wasn't very nice to Anand at Stanford. He thought he was "one of the smartest guys at Stanford." At one point, he comandeered Anand's computer. And when Sergey heard that Anand was a vegetarian, he baked him a fish. Anand ate it.
Come on, Anand, would you be better off launching a search competitor or just punching Sergey in the face?
