It's a sad day for AOL. Jim Bankoff, the exec who led the internet media company's acquisition of Weblogs, Inc., and the launch of entertainment news site TMZ.com, is clearing out his things, at the Time Warner unit's Dulles headquarters. There is one consolation: the lead internal candidate to replace Bankoff has a revealing AIM profile. Bill Wilson, a programming exec known for rousing GO TROOPS email memoranda, lists his location, Right Here, Right Now; his occupation, By Any Means Necessary; and his interests, Loving. Winning.
