Israeli business paper Globes reports that Waze, the navigation app Google purchased for $1 billion last year, infringes upon an open source mapping project he was part of:

Today, Gorodish filed a NIS 500 million lawsuit against Waze, and asked the court to recognize it as a class-action suit. Waze, [founder Ehud] Shabtai and other co-founders - Amir Shinar, Gili Shinar, and Uri Levine - are listed as respondents.

Gorodish claims that Shabtai was a founding member of the community that created the Freemap project, and that he subsequently took the software to found Waze.

A spokesperson from Waze, which marked the biggest software payout in Israeli history, said the company has not yet seen a copy of the lawsuit.
